Types of Hygiene Appointments

Our team of doctors and hygienists provide comprehensive exams to assess and maintain your oral health. During each visit, our caring and skilled hygienists perform thorough cleanings to remove plaque and calculus, ensuring a healthier smile. They’ll also provide guidance on natural home care techniques and may suggest organic products to support your daily preventative routine.

Prophylaxis

A routine wellness cleaning for maintaining a healthy mouth, Prophylaxis is recommended every 3-6 months, based on individual needs. This cleaning removes plaque and minor tartar buildup, supporting overall dental health and preventing gum disease.

Full Mouth Debridement (FMD)

For patients who have gone an extended time without cleanings or who experience heavy tartar buildup, FMD is essential. This procedure clears thick deposits from above the gums, preparing teeth for a thorough exam and follow-up cleanings. FMD is an important first step in reestablishing a healthy baseline for oral care.

Scale & Root Planing (SRP)

Also known as deep cleaning, SRP is recommended for patients with gum disease or deep pockets around the teeth where bacteria and plaque have collected. The hygienist carefully cleans between the teeth and along the gum line to remove buildup from hard-to-reach areas. This process may involve several 90-minute appointments, scheduled closely together for maximum effectiveness.

Periodontal Maintenance

Essential following SRP, periodontal maintenance keeps the spaces (pockets) between teeth and gums clean and free from bacteria. Regular maintenance every 3-4 months helps manage gum health and prevent gum disease from returning, supporting a strong foundation for long-term oral health.
